shopping Mall
huizhou, China
11118 ㎡
B1 – 4F
design stage
This shopping mall was conceived as an integral extension of the adjacent residential development, designed to serve both as an amenity and a flexible commercial hub. To maximize operational adaptability, the mall is composed as a cluster of independent buildings connected by bridges and organized around an open-air courtyard. This configuration allows the complex to function as a unified retail destination or to be leased building-by-building or floor-by-floor, ensuring a wide range of viable operating models and reducing reliance on a single retail strategy.
The buildings are arranged to frame a generous central courtyard, anchored by a circular atrium that opens visually and physically to the landscaped lover level which is open to the parking areas. Two of the buildings are strategically configuered to define corner plazas that establish a strong identity for the development and clearly articulate the main entrances. At the pedestrian level, each building is lined with display windows positioned to showcase retail frontage throughout the day and into the evening, enhancing visibility and contributing to a lively, engaging streetscape.
The primary plaza features a reflecting pool and sculptural light poles that create an inviting atmosphere for visitors and encourage leisurely window shopping.
