Located just steps from Taichung Railway Station—an area undergoing rapid urban renewal—the project occupies a site increasingly defined by cafés, small restaurants, and specialty shops that draw both locals and visitors. Historically, this very plot housed the client’s original Palace Hotel, later converted into a cram school. The new hotel reclaims the site and re-establishes the brand’s roots within the city.
The hotel operates on an innovative, highly efficient model featuring self-check-in, robotic luggage handling, and compact yet thoughtfully planned guest rooms. These operational efficiencies allow the hotel to offer competitive rates while maintaining exceptional quality, particularly in its food and beverage programs, which include well-equipped kitchens and an in-house bakery.
The interior design marks the return of the flagship branch to its historic origins. It extends the architectural concept and expresses a strong Taiwanese identity. A required streetside arcade leads into a generous lobby that houses waiting areas and self-check-in counters. The signature robotic luggage system becomes a defining element upon arrival, signaling the hotel’s forward-thinking character.
A central atrium, enabled by the architectural layout, serves as an interior urban plaza. This flexible space adapts throughout the day – expanding restaurant capacity during peak hours, hosting self check-in functions, or transforming into a hotel bar in the evening.
Guest rooms are planned with exceptional spatial efficiency. The entrance zone doubles as the bathroom area, integrating wardrobe, luggage storage, basin, and access to shower and WC compartments into a concise, functional arrangement. The layout accommodates a variety of users, from single travelers and couples to small families. A special rooftop room type offers a maisonette configuration that functions as a suite within the footprint of a standard room.
A meeting facility on the roof level can be subdivided to accommodate events of various scales, supported by a small foyer for pre-function use. One level above, a compact yet versatile gym provides space for a wide range of workouts, with a guest laundry and vending area discreetly located behind it, offering essentials from toiletries to travel items.
Two distinct restaurants create inviting settings for guests and locals alike, complemented by the hotel’s excellent kitchens. The in-house bakery supplies both dining venues and operates a small coffee shop at the entrance, enhancing the hotel’s street presence and connection to the neighborhood.
